This sculpture represents Holy Mary – Rosa Mystica; the name, because she’s holding three roses (white, red and yellow) on her mantle at chest level, as described by the visionary herself. Each of the roses has its own interpretation as follows: “Prayer, Sacrifice and Penance”.
Holy Mary stands on a wooden base. Mary’s face is thoughtful, her hands are folded in prayer. Her hair is covered with a golden vail and her blue mantle has been carved and painted to emphasize the slight move.
Rosa Mystica, as the Mother of the Church, refers to the apparitions to the cleavoyant Pierina Gilli which took place in the year 1947 in the province of Brescia, Italy, more precisely in Montichiari town. At this location, today you’ll find a sanctuary that unlike other cultural buildings, is structured like an open amphitheater.
