This sculpture representing Our Lady of Einsiedeln, is carved in maple wood, handcrafted and hand painted.
The color of the face of Holy Mary and the one of Jesus Child are black; this to remember the original figure of the Holy Mary hold at the Abbey of Einsiedeln in Switzerland.
The sculpture has a clear royal touch, significate by the crowns placed on their heads and the scepter that Holy Mary holds in her hand.
Both, Holy Mary’s and Jesus’ mantles show a light white color, enriched with notable golden decorations.
History: located inside of the Abbey, founded by a Benedictine monk, you’ll find the chapel of mercy which hosts the figure of the black Holy Mary, also known as Our Lady of Einsiedeln, created by an unknown craftsman in the 15th century. The original one was probably lost due to a fire damage.
