His mission took him to China, where he dedicated himself to teaching and converting, facing enormous difficulties. Despite language barriers, cultural challenges, and precarious living conditions, Freinademetz managed to gain the respect of the local community due to his dedication and love for others. He died in 1908. On October 5, 2003, Pope John Paul II declared him a saint and on August 5, 2008 Pope Benedict XVI visited his birthplace in Oies, Italy.
